Voice and Void Lecture at the Austrian Cultural Forum

Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller , Opera for a small room, 2005
I am attending a lecture tonight at the Austrian Cultural Forum on the exhibition Voice and Void which opens this week at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. See below for details.
The Austrian Cultural Forum New York is pleased to invite you to a presentation on
VOICE AND VOID
an Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum Exhibition which explores the human voice from an artistic vantage.
Austrian native Thomas Trummer – the first recipient of the Hall Curatorial Fellowship at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum – will join artist Anna Gaskell and Austrian Cultural Forum director Andreas Stadler to discuss then newly mounted Aldrich exhibition Voice and Void at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York City on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at 7:30 pm. Refreshments will be served following the panel.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION: The human voice has become a major subject in recent scholarly debates, so it is no coincidence that an Aldrich exhibition explores the topic from an artistic vantage. In this exhibition, Trummer presents visual representations of sound, specifically voice, and the lack of voice, or void. The exhibition will feature both commissioned and loaned contemporary works of all media by a diverse group of international artists, including Rachel Berwick, Joseph Beuys/Ute Klophaus, John Cage, Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller, VALIE EXPORT, Anna Gaskell, Asta Groeting, Christian Marclay, Melik Ohanian, Hans Schabus, Nedko Solakov, Julianne Swartz, and Cerith Wyn Evans .
Voice and Void will be on view at The Aldrich through February 24, 2008. Click here for more information about the exhibition.
