Weirding Module on EVR 5/7

Weirding Module played on Radio Heart last night, followed by a DJ set by Alex and Michael. The complete show is worth checking out in its entirety, but I also edited down Weirding Module’s performance into a single mp3 file, available below.

Fabulous Diamonds

I originally came across this duo via the website for Melbourne-based gallery now now. Jarrod Zlatic had posted his top 5 – which included the Hamburger Allstars “I Woke Up”, and I knew I had to check out his band.

Listen to The Hamburger Allstars + I Woke Up

Composed of drums, saxophone, synthesizer, and a prominent delay pedal Fabulous Diamonds channel the quirkyness of the Flying Lizards while slowing it down and underlaying it with simple, sparse, dub-ed out beats. Nisa Venerosa’s vocals contain hints of Ana de Silva and, to their benefit, they keep their songs short, avoiding any potential slide into a disorganized muddle of reverb. Excellent.

n213 /// kunst fascion

I came across n213 yesterday via myspace. It fits in quite well with my long standing adoration for dirgey cheap synths, effect pedals, and low-fi crunchy beats. Pictured above is their release on the Canadian cassette label Isolated Now Waves.

Another myspace band I’ve discovered recently is Kunst Fascion from Houston. Also belongs to same said category. Also has a pretty kick ass website.
