Speaker Synths by Lesley Flanigan

I went to ITP’s Spring MFA Show last week and came across this awesome project by artist Lesley Flanigan. Titled “Speaker Synths,” each wooden speaker produces feedback according to the position and direction of a suspended contact mic. For performance, Flanigan layers her own voice over live manipulation and pre-recorded samples of the instruments. She demo-ed the synths every half hour during ITP’s show and they were LOUD.
