I wrote an essay and contributed to the roundtable conversation for the online exhibition catalog for Sean Raspet’s “Untitled (Registration/PIN: G0009296/78GY76DM; G0009297/99ER43TB; G0009298/39ZL54SJ)” at New Galerie in NYC, curated by Alexander Benenson. For the project, Sean covered all the surfaces in the gallery with SelectaDNA, a synthetic DNA product that is commercially used as an anti-theft and security device. The product adheres to the skin of gallery visitors, allowing them to be tracked back to first contact. The project asks urgent questions about surveillance, tracking, forensic science, genetics….It’s an important show. The exhibit opened this past weekend and will be up until May 9th, check it out and read the catalog! (via Digital Catalog)
